When completed, the dining option at the Hilton Head Island, S.C. resort will feature a two-story restaurant with a bar and dining area on the first floor and a rooftop oyster bar. The restaurant is designed to be scalable in the front and back of the house, allowing operations to respond to seasonal demand. Demolition and construction are set to start in the spring of 2021. “This new restaurant will serve as the cornerstone of Harbour Town and is destined to become the most desirable dining venue on Hilton Head Island,” said resort President Steve Birdwell.

The Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, S.C. will completely redevelop The Quarterdeck restaurant to include a new rooftop oyster bar offering 270-degree views of the famed Harbour Town Yacht Basin and Calibogue Sound.

The new vision, created by design firm Hart Howerton, will feature a two-story restaurant with a bar and dining area on the first floor and a rooftop oyster bar where guests can enjoy views of Harbour Town, the 18th hole of the Harbour Town Golf Links and Calibogue Sound. A casual, walk-up market on the ground level will serve as a place to grab a quick bite to go or to stock up on provisions for the day. The addition of a boardwalk will direct pedestrian flow to the market and pier, creating a gathering spot in this prime waterfront setting.

“This new restaurant will serve as the cornerstone of Harbour Town and is destined to become the most desirable dining venue on Hilton Head Island,” said Steve Birdwell, President of The Sea Pines Resort.

The restaurant is designed to be scalable in the front and back of the house, allowing operations to respond to seasonal demand. Flexible glass-wall systems and high ceilings throughout the rooftop oyster bar will allow 270-degree, unimpeded views and provide cover from the summer sun and comfort during inclement weather.

Design and engineering are in the final stages, with demolition and construction set to start in spring 2021. Careful planning will allow continued access to the Harbour Town Lighthouse and operation of watersport activities and the fuel dock throughout the construction period. Opening is anticipated prior to the spring 2022 season.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this project,” said Cliff McMackin, Director of Resort Development. “Not only will the restaurant be fully rebuilt, but it will also be rebranded and reestablished as the anchor of Harbour Town.”
