Stowe Country Club (Stowe, Vt.) announced the completion of a multi-year, full-course redesign led by Beau Welling Design. The reimagined course debuts on July 1, 2026 with its full 18-hole, par 71 layout, nearly a year after the front nine redesign was completed.
The comprehensive redesign reimagines all 18 holes, with a focus on walkability, playability for all levels of players, resource sustainability, and distinctive golf shot options throughout the course. Enhancements include the complete reconstruction of greens and tees, reshaping and regrading of fairways, modernization of bunkers, and the introduction of a new golf facilities area. A full re-grassing program introduces premium bentgrass across greens, tees, and fairways, complemented by Kentucky bluegrass and fescue roughs, while upgraded irrigation and drainage systems ensure long-term course health and environmental stewardship.
“The transformation of Stowe Country Club represents a meaningful investment in both the game of golf and the future of the Stowe community,” says Sam Gaines, President of Mt. Mansfield Company, the owner of Stowe Country Club. “This project honors the history of the course while reimagining it for the next generation, creating a place where members, guests, and local residents can gather to enjoy the landscape, the sport, and the shared experiences that define this region.”
The refreshed course emphasizes approachable play for golfers of all ages and abilities while maintaining a thoughtful challenge for more experienced players. Expanded fescue landscapes, a long-term tree management plan, and enhanced sightlines further highlight the property’s natural beauty, creating a course that is as visually compelling and highly playable.
Complementing the golf experience, Stowe Country Club offers dining at The Pub, a member-focused gathering space featuring modern interpretations of traditional fare with an emphasis on chef-driven barbecue-inspired cuisine.
Designed as a relaxed social hub, The Pub features indoor and outdoor dining, including a patio and scenic deck, and serves as a welcoming place for members and their guests to gather before or after a round. Additional on-course enhancements include a new comfort station—the “Sugar Shack,” accessible from both the 5th and 14th holes, offering restrooms, a member honor station, and food and beverage service during peak times.
The redevelopment reflects a broader vision for Stowe as a premier four-season mountain destination, with future plans including a new clubhouse, expanded dining, racquet sports, fitness and wellness amenities, and additional recreational offerings.
“We’ve been thrilled by the response to the reimagining of Stowe Country Club and the continued evolution of club life at Spruce Peak,” says Michael Harger, General Manager of Stowe Country Club and The Club at Spruce Peak. “Since announcing the transformation, we’ve welcomed more than 200 new members across Stowe Country Club and The Club at Spruce Peak.”
The Lodge at Spruce Peak offers a seamless stay-and-play experience, pairing premier course access with the broader amenities and year-round experiences of the Spruce Peak community.
