Michael Jordan Behind Exclusive Private Club

A new private members club is set to debut in downtown Sarasota, Fla., later this year, bringing an upscale dining and social experience to the ground floor of the BLVD Sarasota building.

1000 North Sarasota is an extension of the prestigious 1000 North club in Jupiter, originally founded by developer Ira Fenton and a group of sports icons, including Michael Jordan, Ernie Els, and Tucker Frederickson. The Sarasota expansion is a collaboration with local developer Kevin Daves, known for his work on The Concession Golf Club and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences.

Leading the club’s operations is General Manager Tim Fanning, alongside New-Member Director Alex Elshimy, both of whom bring extensive hospitality experience. Elshimy played a key role in opening Seasons 52 at The Mall at University Town Center, while Fanning previously managed The Capital Grille at the same location. Their focus is on creating a refined yet vibrant atmosphere, blending the exclusivity of a private club with the energy of a supper club.

Spanning 13,000 sq. ft., 1000 North Sarasota will offer seating for 200 guests. The menu will feature premium steaks, fresh seafood, and seasonal specialties, complemented by an extensive wine program with private lockers and personalized sommelier services. The club aims to cultivate a dynamic dining culture where members can engage in unique culinary experiences.

While membership rates have not been disclosed, the Jupiter location requires a $5,000 initiation fee and a $5,000 annual fee, suggesting Sarasota’s pricing may be comparable.

Currently under construction, the space is designed to exude sophistication and exclusivity. Plans include a grand piano positioned near floor-to-ceiling windows, a stylish bar area, and an upstairs mezzanine overlooking the main floor. A 2,000-sq.-ft. kitchen will allow for immersive culinary experiences, giving members behind-the-scenes access to the artistry of the club’s cuisine.

Fanning and Elshimy share a deep commitment to hospitality, viewing the club’s success as a carefully cultivated experience. Their combined expertise in high-end dining and member engagement is set to establish 1000 North Sarasota as a premier destination—one that seamlessly blends luxury, service, and an unparalleled social atmosphere.
