Frenchman’s Creek Breaks Ground on $10M Capital Improvement Project

The summer-long renovation focuses on the club’s signature 9 South hole, the driving range, and the short game facilities.

By Editorial Staff | June 2, 2026

Frenchman’s Creek Beach & Country Club (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) has officially broken ground on a series of major enhancements to its golf and practice facilities, designed to elevate the club’s golf experience, practice amenities, and overall community environment.

Construction began on May 6, 2026, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on May 14.

The $10.48 million capital improvement project was approved by members in the spring of 2025 and is scheduled for completion this fall. The summer-long renovation focuses on the club’s signature 9 South hole, the driving range, and the short game facilities.

Among the most significant upgrades is the complete renovation of the club’s driving range. Previously configured with north/south tees, the facility will now feature a traditional tee line and a dedicated iron tee area to improve practice functionality and player flow. The project also includes a privacy berm along the club’s main roadway, enhancing aesthetics and expanding the driving range’s footprint.

The club is also relocating and redesigning its short-game practice area. Formerly located alongside the driving range, the new short-game and putting complex will be situated adjacent to the first tees, creating a larger, more integrated practice environment that better supports player development and pre-round preparation.

Additionally, Frenchman’s Creek is reimagining its signature 9 South hole, located directly behind the clubhouse. The renovation aims to enhance the visual and playing experience for golfers and improve safety and ambiance for the club’s outdoor dining and social events held nearby.

The project reflects the Club’s continued investment in delivering an exceptional golf experience while preserving the distinctive character and lifestyle that define Frenchman’s Creek.

“This project marks an exciting new chapter for the Club and demonstrates our members’ commitment to continually enhancing the Frenchman’s Creek experience,” says Alan Gurock, President of Frenchman’s Creek Beach & Country Club. “From the signature 9 South hole to our practice facilities, these improvements will meaningfully benefit golfers of all skill levels for years to come.”

The renovation is led by the acclaimed golf course architecture firm Fry/Straka. Construction is managed by NMP, with additional support from Flynn Engineering, Insite Studios, A Cut Above Landscaping, SPD (Sharpe Project Development) Projects, TCI-Rood Irrigation, H&J Site Contractors, Technical Inspections, and Landscape Solutions.

Oversight of the project is being provided by a dedicated Board of Governors committee led by Robert Scherer, with Board support from Lisette Siegel.

“Our goal is to create practice and playing environments that are both visually striking and highly functional,” says Rob Oosterhuis, General Manager/COO of Frenchman’s Creek Beach & Country Club. “These enhancements will further solidify Frenchman’s Creek’s reputation as one of South Florida’s premier private-club golf experiences.”

Key operational oversight for the project is being provided by William Schmit, Director of Agronomy, and JR Congdon, Director of Golf.

Once completed, the improvements are expected to deliver upgraded turf conditions, expanded practice amenities, improved playability, enhanced safety, upgraded irrigation infrastructure, and a refreshed visual presentation across several of the club’s most prominent golf areas.
