The Future of Club Experiences

The top stories of this week revolve around similar themes like renovations and leadership moves, but also feature a new theme—branding.

By Madison Hartline, Associate Editor, Club + Resort Business | March 6, 2026

Last Friday, I wrote about the consistent themes readers are drawn to, reflected in the week’s top five stories. This week follows a similar pattern, with strong engagement around renovation projects and leadership moves. One story, however, highlights a new theme—the growing importance of branding within clubs.

The Club at Olde Cypress recently recognized that small inconsistencies in how it communicated with members were creating broader brand confusion. In response, Melissa Hansen, Director of Membership & Marketing, developed a comprehensive branding guide to bring greater consistency, clarity, and confidence to the club’s communications. Now that the guide is in place, Hansen says her biggest regret is waiting so long to establish these standards.

Olde Cypress’s leadership has been investing in both how it presents itself and how the club looks. The unveiling of the club’s newly renovated clubhouse marked the completion of phase one of a multi-million-dollar project, introducing modernized social spaces, updated dining areas, and new amenities, with a second phase set to conclude in the coming weeks.

As always, renovation plans remain popular with readers. Bay Colony Golf Club recently secured member approval of Project 27, a $14 million capital initiative designed to enhance the club’s golf course and golf maintenance infrastructure. The initiative reflects strong member alignment around reinvesting in the assets and experiences that define Bay Colony.

Another golf course renovation project also made the list this week. La Valle Coastal Club is unveiling its fully revamped 27-hole golf experiences after a multimillion-dollar transformation. The three courses—Cedros, Palmas, and Olivos—have been extensively remodeled to deliver walkable, scenic, and dynamic golf in San Diego County.

It wouldn’t be a top stories round-up without the inclusion of People on the Move. This week, we highlighted 18 industry professionals stepping into new roles, ranging from general managers and chief revenue officers to executive chefs and more.
