KemperSports has been selected to manage San Jose (Calif.) Country Club and The Ridge Club in Sandwich, Mass.
The historic, full-service San Jose CC includes an 18-hole golf course that was built in 1912 and clubhouse with multiple dining options and private event space that can accommodate up to 250 guests. The golf course, which has hosted the Santa Clara County Championship annually for the past 81 years, was originally designed by Scottish-born golf professional Tom Nicoll. The course has since gone through several renovations, including by A.W. Tillinghast (1936) and John Harbottle (1997).
“San Jose Country Club is one of the most respected clubs in Northern California,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We look forward to working with the members to align with their mission of delivering the best possible club experience for members and their guests.”
The Ridge Club was built in 1990 with a goal of delivering Cape Cod charm. It serves as the centerpiece of a 180-home gated community, and includes an 18-hole Robert von Hagge-designed golf course featuring #17, its signature hole, with the only island green on the Cape. Further amenities include a 40,000-sq. ft. clubhouse, swimming pool and a tennis complex. The club also features a world-class whiffle ball field with scoreboard and left field wall modeled after Fenway Park’s Green Monster.
The club is located southeast of Boston, and was purchased in 2012 by a group of 12 members, including hockey great Bobby Orr.
“As we look toward a bright future, we are confident KemperSports is the right partner for The Ridge Club,” said Orr.
Mosaic Clubs & Resorts has been selected to manage The I’On Club in Mount Pleasant, S.C., a high-end athletic club.
The I’On Club is home to seven clay tennis courts, a temperature-controlled saline Junior Olympic pool, a saline adult lounge pool, a 3,500-sq. ft. fitness, yoga, and weight training facility, and The Porch at I’ON restaurant. Built in 1999 as an amenity for residents of the 735-home I’On community, the club more than doubled the fitness gym area and added the Porch restaurant in 2014.
I’On is a mixed-use “Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND)” style community developed by the Graham family. While the community is fully developed and now managed by the property owners, The I’On Club remains under the Graham family umbrella of companies.
“We had heard about the I’On community and club for years through our work in the Charleston area,” says Mosaic founding partner and chairman, Whitney Crouse. “To now be at the helm of one of the nation’s most beautiful and robust athletic clubs is a thrill for us at Mosaic.”
