The Yanceyville, N.C., property is now under new ownership and management, and improvements are underway, including correcting sand bunkers, rebuilding and fixing drainage problems, and cutting down trees to allow sunshine, while increasing the appeal of the clubhouse restaurant and snack bar, which will feature home-cooked meals.
Caswell Pines Golf Club in Yanceyville, N.C., is under new management—Bob Greear is the managing partner of the group that now owns and runs the property, the Yanceyville-based Caswell Messenger reported.
The Caswell Pines Golf Club is described as a “good business venture” by Greear, with valuable land and an excellent design and layout. Greear is also part owner of the Draper Valley Golf Club in Draper, Va., but he says he is really enjoying his role as managing partner of Caswell Pines because it is “something totally different,” the Messenger reported.
The new owners want to make the club a destination golf course, where people will travel from 50-plus miles away to get the opportunity to play golf on this course. With this goal in mind, improvements are being made to the course. The new owners are correcting sand bunkers, rebuilding, fixing drainage problems, cutting down some trees to allow sunshine and air circulation (the greens are stressed), and improving the curb appeal, the Messenger reported.
They are also looking to add to the appeal of the clubhouse restaurant and snack bar where they offer home cooked meals with seating for up to 65 people. The restaurant and snack bar are open to golfers and to the general public. Caswell Pines also offerd a 3,000-sq. ft. banquet room that is ideal for events, such as parties, weddings, golf tournament dinners, etc., the Messenger reported.
“We are up and running. We won’t let the improvements impede play,” Greear said. “We are going to make Caswell Pines one of the best golf courses in the area—if not the best golf course in the area. In three months, we are going to take a good piece of land and turn it into a great golf course.”
