For the second straight year, the club is offering discounted dues over a three-year period for an existing member who forms a “POD” with new members who would also receive the dues reductions. “We’ve tried several different membership programs, and this system has been shown that it works,” said club President Barry Redfern.
York (Neb.) Country Club (YCC) has announced that it is continuing its “POD system” membership promotion for 2020, the York News-Times reported. The 101-year-old club introduced the promotion in 2019 (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/york-neb-cc-kicks-off-pod-membership-promotion/) in pursuit of three goals: Increasing membership, decreasing dues for current and new members, and generating revenue for the club.
“The York Country Club has always been an important part of the York community and we wanted to come up with a program that hopefully will ensure that continues in the years to come,” club President Barry Redfern told the News-Times. “We’ve tried several different membership programs in the past and this POD system is one that has enjoyed success at other clubs around the state. We’re not re-inventing the wheel here and this system has been shown that it works.”
The program revolves around a POD formed with a current member of YCC and two new members in one of the club’s membership categories: full member, single, senior, young professional or junior. Depending on where someone falls in these categories, the News-Times reported, dues to belong to the club for everyone in a POD would decrease over a three-year period from 31% to 43% each month.
The non-member can be anyone who is not currently in any membership level within YCC, regardless of how long they have not been part of the YCC membership, the News-Times reported. Members who had resigned but want to join again would also be eligible for the promotion.
The signed membership agreement would be in effect for 36 months, starting when the new member signs up, the News-Times reported. At the end of that time period, each of the three members of the POD would have two choices: return to full membership status or initiate a new POD with two new members and continue the discounted dues structure.

“If you are interested in golf, we would love to talk to you,” said Redfern. “We want to be able to pass along this great golf course to future generations.”
