The Naples, Fla. club introduced two pickleball courts, a bocce court and croquet facilities as part of the plan to expand and improve its existing member activities area. Construction will begin on April 1 for new casual dining amenities, resort pool enhancements and a 20,000-sq. ft. Fitness and Wellness Center that will also feature spa and salon services.
Wyndemere Country Club in Naples, Fla. recently hosted a ribbon cutting for its new croquet lawn—part of a facilities master plan for club amenities and services initiated in December 2018. Driven by membership feedback, wants and desires, the club paid close attention to the surrounding competitive market and incorporated future club trends from across the country.
After many focus groups, membership town hall meetings and club benchmarking activities, the first phase of the master plan was presented in February of 2020 and approved by the membership a month later.
Dubbed “WCC Project 2020,” it is a $21 million facilities improvement plan that will include new casual dining amenities, resort pool enhancements and a 20,000-sq. ft. Fitness and Wellness Center that will also feature spa and salon services.
In addition, improvements were planned for the members activities area to address increased demands for more pickleball and bocce courts. Lastly, the club wanted to appeal to the growing number of members that played croquet.
For the last two years, the Wyndermere paid an annual fee for its members to participate in croquet activities at an offsite location. Rather than have members leave the gates to enjoy this activity, the club incorporated croquet facilities into the facilities master plan and WCC Project 2020.
WCC Project 2020 construction officially began in August 2020 with the addition of two pickleball courts, one bocce court and croquet facilities as part of the improvement plans for the existing member activities area. Construction will commence for the remaining improvements as part of the project on April 1.
