Woodland Valley Country Club, located in Surfside Beach, S.C., is trying to help the less fortunate members of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand community through a Non-Perishable Food Drive. The program encourages local golfers to contribute a food item in exchange for a $2.00 discount on their round of golf.
“We started the program in November as a way to help out around the Thanksgiving Holiday,” states Bill Bernschein, Woodland Valley Head Golf Professional and General Manager. “The program was such a success that we have continued it into 2009 and plan to keep it in place for the foreseeable future.” The food drive benefits The Coastal Rescue Mission in Loris and Myrtle Beach.
Through January 28, 2009, approximately 425 rounds have been played under this program. “It’s really been amazing to hear the comments at the counter,” adds Bernschein. “The community has really gotten behind the effort and made it a true win/win for everyone.”
