The Whitney, Texas resort will unveil renovations to its New Course on August 30, while the Old Course is continuing grow-in with plans for a late-September opening. The renovation included total turf replacement to Tifeagle Bermuda on all 36 greens, while the bunkers were reworked for improved drainage and filled with all-new bunker sand.
After a total renovation of their greens and bunkers, the two golf courses at White Bluff Resort in Whitney, Texas are preparing to open.
Wrapped along the shores of Lake Whitney, The Old and New Courses were designed by 13-time PGA Tour winner Bruce Lietzke and are part of a 3,450-acre golf resort community. The New Course features water on 16 of its 18 holes, while The Old Course has significant elevation changes and expansive views of the Texas hillsides.
The renovation included total turf replacement to Tifeagle Bermuda on all 36 greens, while the bunkers were reworked for improved drainage and filled with all-new bunker sand. Each course also has its own full-length driving range, chipping green, and practice bunker and putting green.
The New Course opens to the public on August 30, with a four-person team scramble, preceded the day before by a clinic and players party.
“The POA Board and community looks forward to showcasing our challenging and beautiful golf courses and the total renovation of White Bluff’s many amenities,” said Leonard Critcher, President, White Bluff Property Owners Association. “We welcome our neighbors from the surrounding communities and believe that they are going to be very impressed by this all-new White Bluff experience, including access to Lake Whitney, pools, marina, racquet sports, and dining.”
The Old Course, which currently is in grow-in phase, is expected to open in late September.
The resort offers stay-and-play packages. Among the lodging options are cabins located near the 16th green of the New Course equipped with full kitchen, washer/dryer, and a covered patio area with charcoal grill and picnic table. There also are condos near the 18th green of the Old Course outfitted with full kitchen, patio area with table/chairs and a charcoal grill, and a small upstairs balcony that overlooks the course.
The Resort also recently reopened its St. Andrews-inspired restaurant Mulligan’s (embed https://clubandresortbusiness.com/restaurants-highlight-a-pair-of-renovations/), which offers panoramic views of the New Course from floor-to-ceiling windows. The hand-crafted, burlwood bar serves a variety of craft beers, wines, and specialty cocktails, while the food menu features a wide array of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, entrees, and daily specials.
White Bluff is managed by Arcis Advantage, the management division of Dallas-based Arcis Golf (https://clubandresortbusiness.com/courses-at-white-bluff-resort-to-be-managed-by-arcis-advantage/), which owns or manages 18 clubs in Texas.
