Resort’s championship tennis courts have been resurfaced, repainted and are ready for play.
This August, Westward Look Resort, Tucson, Ariz., resurfaced and repainted its championship tennis courts, as well as added new graduated lines for younger players. The courts’ new look will not only complement the natural views that surround them, but also allow for kid-friendly tennis lessons.
The updated courts, five asphalt and one fiberglass, were resurfaced and refinished to patch up and cover cracks from normal wear and tear. They were also repainted to add fresh blue and green color for a more updated and attractive look. At the same time, graduated lining was added to the courts to accommodate the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Quick Start Tennis program for kids 10 and under. The graduated lines visually scale down the size of the court for young children first learning to play.
“After three of the six courts scheduled for refurbishing were completed and in play for a week, they started receiving rave reviews from members,” said Otton Suarez, Director of Rooms at Westward Look Resort.
The resurfacing began in early August, and by mid-August all six courts were restored and ready for use again by resort guests and Sport & Spa members. The courts were stripped, patched, and sanded before resurfacing material was applied. Then the courts were sanded again and given a fresh coat of paint.
