The complex at the Powell, Ohio property is slated to open for play in spring 2016. The complex features two large greens, a variable depth dual-directional bunker and two large closely mown areas for chipping.
Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio, is pleased to announce the completion of its new short game facility. The complex, slated to open for play in spring 2016, was completely funded by voluntary member contributions.
A member-owned club, Wedgewood broke ground on the project on June 6, 2015. Nestled in a valley between a stone framed lake and tennis courts, the complex features two large greens, a variable depth dual-directional bunker and two large closely-mown areas for chipping. Conceptualized by renowned golf course architects, Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dr. Chris Hurdzan of Hurdzan Golf Design, the short game complex was designed to serve as a complement to Wedgewood’s already acclaimed Robert Trent Jones, Jr. golf course.
Funding for the project was raised solely by member contributions through Wedgewood’s Legacy Club. In total, 65 Wedgewood members and their families have contributed to the Legacy Club, which serves as a way for the members and owners of Wedgewood to build upon the history and tradition of Wedgewood. The goal of the Legacy Club is to identify, prioritize, refine and ultimately fund capital improvements needed to enhance the overall member experience, elevate Wedgewood’s standing in the community and increase appeal to future members.
“As Wedgewood continues to execute on its capital reinvestment plan, the contributions of our Legacy Club Members towards an added amenity like our new Short Game Complex only enhances and strengthens the pride all of our members have in their club,” General Manager Chris Casto said. “With the development of this new practice facility, we now offer a complete golf experience for every level of golfer.”
