Community volunteers raised funds through a comedy show and seeking donations door-to-door to purchase and install a large fountain. The property is currently in the second phase of a multimillion-dollar renovation that is scheduled to be complete in September.
Pearland (Texas) Golf Club is currently in the second phase of a multimillion-dollar renovation, which will be completed in September under the direction of golf course architect Jeffrey Blume.
However, community volunteers continue to assist staff in the beautification of the course and clubhouse, which remains open to the public during the renovation.
Residents identified the need for a fountain in the lake by Hole 9. The fountain became a volunteer effort. Dick Kendall, a professional comedian, volunteered to perform a show with all of the proceeds going to the fountain fund. Since more was needed to purchase a large fountain, resident Hazel Smith went door to door obtaining donations until the goal was met.
Next, a group of volunteers, called Special Projects, completed the wiring and installation of the fountain in the lake for all to enjoy, with red, white and blue lights enhancing the fountain at night.
