Vistal Golf Course, located at the base of South Mountain in Phoenix, Ariz., is offering 10-round punch cards for $200. The promotion includes golf carts, hot dogs and drinks, and range balls. Additionally, according to the Phoenix Business Journal, dollar beers on the weekend and noon tee times under $10 have boosted revenue for the course by 19 percent in June and 8 percent in July, compared to last year.
Unseasonably cooler temps in June probably contributed to the increases, but Vistal’s niche of serving local players who bring out-of-town friends to the course has worked well in the recession, said Greg Leicht, Vistal’s Director of Golf. “We’re not reliant on resorts, [so] we can be flexible on our rates,” he told the Journal.
