In partnership with U.S. Tennis Association, the Naples, Fla. club added three courts to address increased member usage and demand, and pickleball’s popularity. The courts include gel cushioning and LED lighting for night play. “Through the years we have cultivated a popular, robust racquet sports program as part of club life here,” says COO Paul Malonson.
Vineyards Country Club in Naples, Fla. has added three new championship pickleball courts within its racquet facility, the Naples Daily News reported. The club now offers a total of six pickleball courts.
“[Through the] years we have cultivated a popular, robust racquet sports program as part of club life here,” said Paul Malonson, Vineyards Country Club Chief Operating Officer. “We are proud to have doubled the number of pickleball courts for our members to enjoy.”
C+RB reported on the plans to add courts in July 2021.
The new courts were created and purchased without assessing members of the debt-free, Blue Zones-certified community, the Daily News reported. Added in response to increased member usage and demand, and pickleball popularity, the courts were produced in partnership with U.S. Tennis Association and include gel cushioning and LED lighting for night play.
Vineyards Country Club’s racquet center offers year-round pickleball programming including camps conducted by Engage Sports, competitive round robin-style tournaments by play level, as well as league play by level, the Daily News reported. The club regularly holds themed social events such as its Super Bowl mixer, mimosa opens, club championships, and its yearly toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots throughout the month of December.
Vineyards Country Club officials also recently celebrated the addition of a 1,200-sq.-ft. outdoor circuit training facility located adjacent to the community’s 15,000-sq.-ft. Wellness Center and Spa, the Daily News reported. The new training area offers numerous additional fitness and training options in a safe, hygienic setting suitable for member athletes of all ages. According to club officials, Vineyards is one of the only clubs in Naples to feature an outdoor fitness training facility.
Vineyards Country Club fitness instructors utilize the facility to specialize in small group training, one-on-one training, outdoor yoga, and balance and circuit classes, the Daily News reported. These types of programs are offered throughout the year, but especially focused on high season usage throughout December through May, when southwest Florida’s weather is most conducive to outdoor training.
The facility is constructed from galvanized steel anchored into the ground, the Daily News reported. The structural elements include TRX, or total body resistance, training equipment made with Kevlar, as well as urethane coated kettlebells and dumbbells, and vinyl-covered resistance bands, all designed to provide maximum weather proofing and outdoor usage.
The floor surface of the training facility consists of eco-friendly, recycled permanent poured-in-place elastic surfacing made from ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), the Daily News reported. EPDM granular rubber surfaces are high-quality, weather-resistant, low maintenance and durable surfaces used in other outdoor fitness facilities and playgrounds.
