The project in Boca Raton, Fla., will be separated into the Golf Club, which will include tennis, fitness facilities, pools, a spa, children’s activities and several restaurants, and the City Club, which will have more dining rooms, an interactive kitchen, wine-tasting areas and a kid’s club. Construction on the golf course should begin in the second quarter of 2017 and be completed the following fall.
Penn-Florida Cos. has hired golf legend Jack Nicklaus to redesign the golf course at Via Mizner Golf & Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., the Miami-based South Florida Business Journal reported.
The private country club will be part of the Mandarin Oriental hotel and residences that Penn-Florida is building in downtown Boca Raton, the Business Journal reported.
“We have done multiple projects with Penn-Florida in the past, and are particularly excited to be a part of the new Via Mizner in concert with Mandarin Oriental,” Nicklaus said. “My team and I have visited the site several times and our group has been actively working on plans for the golf course. We have been tasked with delivering a spectacular golf course consistent with the world-class character of Via Mizner, and that is exactly what we intend to do.”
The project will be separated into the Golf Club and the City Club. In addition to the golf course, the Golf Club designed by Nicklaus will include tennis, fitness facilities, pools, a spa, children’s activities and several restaurants. The City Club inside the hotel will have more dining rooms, an interactive kitchen, wine-tasting areas and a kid’s club, the Business Journal reported.
“By combining the global recognition of Boca Raton; the world-renowned luxury and service of Mandarin Oriental; and resort-style amenities designed and built to a level of quality rarely seen in the United States, we have a unique opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our members,” said Penn-Florida Chairman and CEO Mark A. Gensheimer. “Our vision was to create an urban resort that offers a full-service luxury lifestyle including championship golf. Once Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group selected Via Mizner to be the home of its newest hotel, and one of only nine Mandarin Oriental Residences in the world, it was only natural that Mr. Nicklaus was selected to design the golf course. He is simply the best.”
Construction on the golf course should begin in the second quarter of 2017 and be completed the following fall, the Business Journal reported.
