Vegas Golfers Are All Over “Hot” Deals

By Joe Barks | July 2, 2013

Las Vegas National GC’s summer special, offering a full round of golf along with cart, free meal and two drinks for $35 on any day forecast to be over 110 degrees, is attracting 120 players on days when, as one describes it, “You sweat from your eyeballs, it’s so hot.”

“Hot” summer specials are attracting golfers to Las Vegas-area courses despite the excessive heat warnings that have been issued in that region, reports KLAS-TV.

At Las Vegas National Golf Course, a deal that’s in effect for any day forecasted to be over 110 degrees gives players a full round of golf, two drink tickets, a free meal, and a cart for $35, the station reports. Managers at the course say about 120 golfers, armed with water bottles and soaked towels, are taking advantage of the deal each day.

“You sweat from your eyeballs, it’s so hot,” John Eddy, a Canadian playing the course, told KLAS. But “it’s not unbearable,” Eddy added, and Las Vegas National does “great work trying to keep you cool while you’re out here.”

The keys to making it around 18 holes in the searing heat, Eddy added, are to “drink lots of water—and iced towels in the cooler are beautiful.

Other courses offering deals, KLAS reported, include Legacy Golf Club, where the basic summer deal is $30 for any tee time after 11 a.m., and Tuscany Golf Club, where a tee time after 2 p.m. is $25 and includes two free drinks.

“We’re golfers, we’ll play in any weather. We love the game, why not?” Las Vegan Ceasar Gacula told KLAS.

However, Gacula did add, “If it starts exceeding 120 and up, I think I’ll sit at home.”
