Union Hills Country Club in Sun City, Ariz. will be one of seven Valley stops on the U.S. Kids Golf Tour. The tournament is made up of nine age groups for boys (6 and under to 14) and eight for girls (7 and under to 14). Depending on the child’s age, the one-day event on July 24 will consist of either nine or 18 holes.
To promote family interaction, parents are encouraged to serve as caddies for the players, and children ages 8 or under must have a caddie at all times.
Competitors earn awards and points for each tournament. The points leaders in each division will receive an invitation to next year’s U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, which will be played in Pinehurst, N.C.
There are 39 metropolitan areas participating in the U.S. Kids Golf Tour. The local championship will be played July 29 at Orange Tree Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
