Inverness Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. plans to open its new clubhouse on July 3, almost two years after the old one was destroyed by arson (“Inverness CC Rises from the Ashes,” C&RB, Dec. 2007).
According to The Birmingham News, the newly constructed, 24,000-sq. ft. clubhouse features a fitness center and a child-care area in a casual, elegant setting that reflects the growing demand for these types of amenities in private clubs. The fitness center offers cardio equipment and group exercise classes, among other things.
In preparation for the opening, the club, which also recently completed a renovation and expansion of its tennis complex, with the addition of 11 courts, has hired more than 40 new employees as part of its debut.
