Blairwood Tennis, Swim & Fitness Club and the Louisville Tennis Club have been acquired by Wichita, Kan.-based Genesis Health Clubs. Genesis, a fitness provider which owns 63 clubs in eight states, declined to share the transaction price. Two Louisville, Ky. health and fitness clubs have been acquired by a new-to-market buyer, Louisville Business First reported.
Blairwood Tennis, Swim & Fitness Club and the Louisville Tennis Club have been acquired by Genesis Health Clubs, and Genesis declined to share the transaction price, Louisville Business First reported.

Blairwood Tennis, Swim & Fitness Club will now operate under the name Genesis Health Clubs – Blairwood, Louisville Business First reported. The Louisville Tennis Club will now operate under the name Genesis Health Clubs – Louisville Tennis Club.
Both facilities were previously owned by holding companies, Club Management Group Blairwood LLC and Club Management Group Lou Tennis Club, according to records from the Jefferson County Property Valuation Administration. The buildings were included in the transaction, which closed Feb. 28, Louisville Business First reported.
The ownership group of these properties included Chris and Jill Burckle, Scott and Donna Brinkman and Larry and Sue Kline, Louisville Business First reported. The group has owned the clubs for more than 25 years, according to a news release on the sale.
“It’s important for us to pass these clubs along to an established company like Genesis who has a national presence and who knows swimming, knows tennis, and understands how to run a world-class health club,” the Burckles said in the release. “We couldn’t be happier to pass the torch to Genesis Health Clubs.”
Members of both clubs will maintain their memberships under the new owner without a price increase, according to the release, Louisville Business First reported.
“Genesis has grown and thrived by growing and investing in tennis across the country and using that base to spread fitness across the cities where we operate,” said Rodney Steven, Genesis owner and president, in the release. “It always works best when the clubs have a strong legacy in the community, and these two established and iconic Louisville clubs certainly do.”
