Antonio Rodriguez and Rafael Garcia Soloranzo pleaded not guilty to possessing burglary tools, burglary, and forgery related to a January 5 incident at the Glendale, Calif., club. The pair was taken into custody the evening of the incident when police spotted them entering a building on the property, and they later found eight golf cart batteries, pliers, and bolt cutters in the duo’s vehicle.
Two men pleaded not guilty on January 7 to charges that they reportedly broke into the Scholl Canyon Golf and Tennis Club in Glendale, Calif., to steal golf-cart batteries, the Los Angeles Glendale News Press reported.
Antonio Rodriguez, 23, and Rafael Garcia Soloranzo, 26, were charged with possessing burglary tools, which were allegedly used on January 5 to break into the golf club, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records, the Press reported.
Rodriguez also faces burglary and forgery charges, the Press reported.
The pair was taken into custody just after 9:11 p.m. when police were patrolling the area near the golf club and spotted them entering the farthest southeast building on the property, the Press reported.
Police reportedly witnessed Rodriguez and Soloranzo carrying large items as they ran in and out of the building. As the pair began to drive away, police held them at gunpoint until additional law enforcement support arrived at the scene. A police dog and helicopter responded and searched the property, the Press reported.
Inside the duo’s Jeep Grand Cherokee, police found eight large golf-cart batteries. Police also seized latex gloves, pliers, and a pair of bolt cutters. Police said the men likely used bolt cutters to break through the property’s chain-link fence and padlock. They allegedly pried open a sliding glass door to enter the golf club, the Press reported.
The pair is expected to appear January 15 in Los Angeles Superior Court in Burbank to discuss their preliminary hearing, the Press reported.
