The Country Club of Virginia, in Richmond, lays down plastic lattice to keep mower traffic off the bermudagrass surrounds when mowing its putting greens. The lattice eliminates the twisting, turning and bruising that the putting green mower creates when it turns around at the edge of the green. The plastic lattice strips, measuring two feet by eight feet, are placed on the edges of the putting green when mowing, and relocated when the mowing zone goes beyond eight feet. Golfers appreciate how the turf surrounding the putting green is in much better condition because of this practice, the club reports.
