The Hopewell Junction, N.Y., property’s previous assessed value was $6 million. The club filed a grievance in May 2015 to lower the value to $2 million, while Donald Trump valued the golf club at over $5 million in his financial disclosure reports as part of his run for president.
Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., will see a reduced assessment to its value, though not as severe a drop as the golf club proposed, the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal reported.
The club, owned by presidential candidate Donald Trump, was evaluated at $4.6 million, 23% less than its former assessed value, according to the Town of East Fishkill. The club was previously assessed at $6 million, the Journal reported.
John Hickman, Jr., East Fishkill Town Supervisor, said that the reduced assessment is in line with the trend among other golf courses. “We took a look at all golf courses and found that revenues are down, so the evaluation would be reduced as well,” Hickman said. “We feel this is a fair assessment.”
In May 2015, the golf club filed a grievance with the town to reduce the private golf club’s assessed value by 66%, a $4 million reduction. This complaint alleges that the 300-acre golf club, is only worth $2 million, the Journal reported.
Though the reduction suggests the golf club’s value is $2 million, Trump valued the golf club at over $5 million in his financial disclosure reports as part of his run for president, the Journal reported.
The golf club features a 14,000-sq. ft clubhouse, 150-seat pavilion, 70-seat members grill and 40-seat pub. Trump took over the former Branton Woods Golf Course in December 2009, and later added a swimming pool and tennis courts as well as upgraded the clubhouse and locker rooms, the Journal reported.
