The announcement capped a big stretch of golf-related news for The Trump Organization, which also secured the 2017 Senior PGA for Trump National-Washington, D.C. and finalized the acquisition of the Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.
The PGA of America has announced a new partnership with The Trump Organization, selecting Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster, N.J. as the site of the 2022 PGA Championship and Trump National Golf Club – Washington, D.C., as the site of the 2017 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid.
In August 2022, Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster will host the 104th PGA Championship, becoming the third New Jersey course to host a PGA Championship and the Championship’s fourth overall visit to the state.
The 78th Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid in May 2017 at Trump National Golf Club – Washington, D.C. (located in in Potomac Falls, Va.) will be the first time the most historic and prestigious championship in senior golf will be conducted in Virginia.

We look forward to having these exceptional sites identify a major champion in the PGA Championship and the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid.”
“It is my great honor to be involved with the PGA of America, an organization which I have long respected,” said Donald Trump, Chairman and President of The Trump Organization, which owns 16 world-class golf properties throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East, not including the spectacular Trump National Doral, the 800-acre facility that Mr. Trump has just rebuilt.
“I would like to thank Ted Bishop and [PGA of America CEO] Pete Bevacqua for having the confidence in me and The Trump Organization, and in particular [for] recognizing the greatness of two facilities, one in the New York/New Jersey metro area and the other directly on the Potomac River in the D.C./Virginia/Maryland area,” Trump added. “I have no doubt that these two highly acclaimed courses will lead to one of the best PGA and Senior PGA Championships ever.”
In addition to the Trump golf properties set to host PGA-sanctioned majors, the PGA of America will conduct four premier championships in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area in less than a decade. Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., will be the site of the 2016 PGA Championship, while Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., will host the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2024 Ryder Cup.
Trump National Golf Club – Washington, D.C., was the site of the 2013 Junior PGA Championship, It features the newly built Championship Course, which fronts its entire length on the Potomac River. The Tom Fazio-designed course opened for play in 2009 and extends to 7,650 yards. all along the river. The property covers 800 rolling acres with a 50,000-sq. ft. clubhouse as a centerpiece, resting on a 120-foot bluff.
Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster, built on the 600-acre former estate of sports car magnate John DeLorean, features two courses – the Old and New Course. The Old Course, designed by Tom Fazio, which will host the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2022 PGA Championship, opened for play in 2004 and plays to 7,560 yards.
The Trump Organization also completed the purchase of the Turnberry resort in South Ayrshire, Scotland from Dubai-based Leisurecorp for a reported $63 milllion.The acquisition was seen as marking an important step in the organization’s desire to also have one of its properties host a British Open Championship. Turnberry’s 54 holes include the Ailsa course, designed by Mackenzie Ross following the Second World War, which has hosted the Open Championship on four occasions, most recently in 2009.
