The Elmsford, N.Y., club was founded in 1894, with the original golf course designed by Lawrence Van Etten, followed by a redesign by A.W. Tillinghast and Seth Raynor in 1926. The property includes a clubhouse with three dining spaces, fitness center, and swimming pool complex.
Troon has been selected to manage Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, N.Y. The club was founded in 1894 and was one of the first 15 clubs to join the USGA. The original golf course was designed by Lawrence Van Etten and opened in the summer of 1895. In 1926, a combination of A.W. Tillinghast and Seth Raynor redesigned the course, added approximately 1,000 yards in length and added a 19th hole that not only takes golfers back to the clubhouse, but also serves as a perfect way to settle wagers. The present-day course plays 6,500 yards from the championship tees.
“Knollwood Country Club has a rich history, from the course to its members to the notable tournaments that have been played there,” said Jim McLaughlin, senior vice president, Troon Privé Operations. “We’re honored to be chosen to manage Knollwood and will look to build upon the club’s incredible past.”
Club amenities include a beautiful clubhouse with three dining options—the traditional Grill Room, the Main Dining Room and the Turnesa Room. Family-friendly amenities include a fitness center, a swimming pool complex featuring a five lane pool with a meter diving board, a kiddie pool and playground area, and a pool area snack bar.
“Selecting Troon to manage Knollwood made perfect sense,” said Nick Greto, President of the Board of Directors. “The company has a proven track record of managing world-class private clubs. We’re very excited to welcome them on board.”
