The 103-year-old club is shortening the fairway of its ninth hole to create room for the new pool with lap lanes. An outdoor patio, food pub and other additions to the clubhouse are also part of the project, which is scheduled to be completed by next summer.
The Traverse City (Mich.) Golf and Country Club is becoming a swim club as well, 9&10 News of Cadillac, Mich. reported.
The 103-year-old club has broken ground on an expansion project that’s adding a pool complete with lap lanes and lounge chairs, and turning part of the golf course’s ninth hole into a new aquatics center. The ninth hole’s fairway will be shortened from a par-four to a par-three.
The club is also adding a big outdoor patio, food pub and putting additions on the clubhouse, 9&10 News reported, all in an effort to attract more members.
“We will have a total package of amenities for our members and their guests,” said the club’s President, Edward Price. “We will be able to have our golf course, our tennis facilities and swimming pool, and we will also have our expanded clubhouse facilities, and additional casual dining available.”
Construction has started so the pool and other improvements will be ready by next summer, 9&10 News reported.
