The TPC network facility in Murrells Inlet, S.C., has selected operator National Golf Management Company. In Las Vegas, Desert Pines was sold to Arcis Equity Partners and will be operated by Eagle Golf Management.
TPC Myrtle Beach, located in Murrells Inlet, S.C., has selected National Golf Management Company (NGM) to operate the facility. The TPC Myrtle Beach is a part of the TPC network that includes more than 30 golf courses.
“We have been contemplating this decision for quite some time. Given the current market conditions, we feel the timing is right to align TPC Myrtle Beach with National Golf Management,” said Chip Smith, TPC Myrtle Beach owner. “They know the market, and have the experience and resources to increase rounds and revenues, while assuring a great experience for our guests.”
“Our ultimate goal is to provide visitors of Myrtle Beach and local Grand Strand golfers with the highest standards,” said Bob Mauragas, National Golf Management president. “The addition of TPC Myrtle Beach to our portfolio is consistent with our strategic plan to assemble a collection of premium courses and we are excited to begin working with them.”
TPC Myrtle Beach is a Tom Fazio / Lanny Wadkins design. It opened in 1999 as the 100th golf course in the Myrtle Beach area, and has previously hosted the SENIOR TOUR Championship, along with other regional and local events, including the final round of the World Amateur Handicap Championship. The course is also home to the Dustin Johnson Golf School.
This agreement grows NGM’s portfolio to 23 owned or managed golf courses and is the first step in a planned growth strategy. The company will oversee all golf-course operations, agronomy, marketing and sales, and food and beverage services.
Walters Golf, the former owner and operator of Desert Pines Golf Club, has sold the course to Dallas, Texas-based Arcis Equity Partners. As part of the transaction, Eagle Golf Management is now operating this Las Vegas resort golf course on behalf of the new owners.
The new owners are planning a multi-million dollar capital improvement plan at the course over the next 18 months.
“Eagle Golf has managed municipal, public and private facilities throughout the United States since 1984,” said Joe Munsch, Eagle Golf Management CEO. “Our sustained success is the direct result of a deep understanding of the golf industry and a constant eye on the future of the game. Our track record speaks for itself. The facilities we manage are consistently recognized as the best in their market for course conditions, available amenities and customer service.”
Open since 1996, Desert Pines Golf Club is a Dye Designs course. The course was owned and operated by Walters Golf from its opening until the transfer of ownership was finalized. Desert Pines is located minutes from downtown Las Vegas.
“Though we no longer own the course, we’re proud of the legacy we’re leaving behind. We couldn’t be happier with the new owners, and we’re confident the new management, Eagle Golf, will continue to elevate the quality of golf in Las Vegas,” said Mike Luce, President of Walters Golf.
