Eight country clubs in the Toll Golf family contributed their support.
Toll Brothers and its Golf and Country Club Division recently announced that their country club membership community achieved another record-breaking donation to the American Cancer Society (ACS). As a result of Toll Golf’s division-wide 2011 Cancer Awareness Golf campaign, the ACS received over $126,000 in donations—exceeding last year’s donation by $43,996.
Eight country clubs in the Toll Golf family contributed their support, with more than 2,400 members attending golf tournaments, social events, and silent auctions across the country.
A contributing event to the final numbers in this year’s ACS donation was the successful “marathon” golf format that each club participated in. Each golf marathon was organized in a similar fashion where members pledge a certain dollar/cents amount per hole, then their club’s golf professional played as many holes as possible within a given time period.
“Among the various charities our clubs support, the American Cancer Society has always held a special significance to our members,” said Barrett White, Pro Manager at Jupiter Country Club in Florida. “So each year we develop new event formats to enhance the golfing experience while increasing participation. This year’s golf marathon did more than provide substantial donations–the supportive environment our members created around their club and staff was greater than imaginable.”
