Stan Jaksick has purchased the New Washoe City, Nev., property and renamed it Toiyabe Golf Club. The formerly private club will become semi-private, and be led by a senior leadership team with a combined 60 years of golf industry experience.
Thunder Canyon Golf Club in New Washoe City, Nev., has been sold and renamed Toiyabe Golf Club, the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal reported.
Stan Jaksick, president of Montreux Golf and Country Club, bought Thunder Canyon from Gayle Block and will turn it from a private club to semi-private, the Gazette-Journal reported.
Jaksick managed Lakeridge Golf Club before developing Montreux with his father. He ran Montreux for 22 years, the Gazette-Journal reported.
“I love the golf business. When the opportunity arose to purchase Thunder Canyon, the timing was perfect,” Jaksick said in a news release. “I’ve known Gayle and her late husband Roger for years and they had a great facility with the potential to be a premier golf course.”
Jaksick will bring a senior leadership team with a combined 60 years of golf industry experience, most recently at Montrêux, to Toiyabe Golf Club to oversee operations, finances and human resources. Lisa Anderson, vice president and Ken Huff, controller join Jaksick as senior officers. The group joins the existing on-site management team led by general manager Bill Gibson, Jr., the Gazette-Journal reported.
Thunder Canyon opened in 1994 and as The Golf Club at Lightning W Ranch, before being renamed in 1999, the Gazette-Journal reported.
