A burglar used a window punch to break into the Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Ore. and steal $4,500 worth of golf clubs.
The Jackson County (Ore.) Sheriff’s Office said a burglar used a window punch tool in the early morning of February 18 to break into Centennial Golf Club in Medford, Ore. and steal $4,500 worth of golf clubs, the Mail Tribune reported. Deputies responded to a business alarm at 3:36 a.m. and found a broken glass door in the clubhouse.
The golf club’s security video showed the break-in occurring at about 3:27 a.m., the Mail Tribune reported. The suspect was a male wearing a windbreaker jacket, the hood tightly drawn over his head. He also wore blue jeans, white tennis shoes and gloves. No additional physical descriptions were available.
“It sounds like his face was covered up pretty good,” said Mike Moran, the sheriff’s department public information officer.
The suspect reportedly used a window punch—a sharp tool with an almost needle-like point commonly used by emergency services personnel to break window glass—to break in through a back door on the facility’s northern side, the Mail Tribune reported. Once inside, the suspect stole 13 golf clubs from a shop display, Centennial General Manager Brian Sackett said. The suspect did not take a bag to carry the clubs, he added. The stolen clubs, including eight Callaway Mavrik drivers, four Titleist drivers and one Ping driver.
The man was last seen running toward the northwest away from the clubhouse, the Mail Tribune reported. The cost of replacing the damaged glass from the break-in was not immediately available. The golf course is open for business as usual, Sackett said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 541-774-6800.
