Golf bag, clubs and $8,000 watch were stolen from locked trunk of car rented by Ricky Barnes, who was appearing as event’s guest of honor.
PGA Professional Ricky Barnes had his golf bag and more than a dozen clubs worth $3,500 stolen, along with a watch worth $8,000, after appearing as the guest of honor at a charity event held on July 25 at Olympia Fields Country Club in suburban Chicago.
A statement released by the Cook County Sheriff’s Department said the items were stolen from a rental car after Barnes put them in the trunk and locked it at about 4 PM. But when Barnes returned to his car about 25 minutes later and opened the trunk, the items were missing, officials said.
The missing items included the golf bag inscribed with Barnes’ name, along with 14 golf clubs, Barnes’ wallet and a Chrome Breitling Bentley watch worth about $8,000.
Police canvassed the area and collected evidence at the scene and began to review surveillance video. Photos of the stolen items were sent to police agencies throughout the state.
