The 24,000-sq. ft. space at the Sarasota, Fla., club now features a lightened color palette, refinished wood floors, and new window treatments, lighting fixtures and carpeting. New dining room chairs, larger tables in the bar and grille, and new furniture for the lobby have been installed as well.
The 24,000-sq. ft. Golf Hall at The Founders Club in Sarasota, Fla., has a lighter new look following a summertime renovation.
Enhancements to the club included a new interior color palette of soft neutral tones and pale grays on walls, refinished wood floors and installation of new window treatments, lighting fixtures and carpeting in the main and private dining rooms.
The interior refresh also included new dining room chairs, larger tables in the bar and grille, and new furniture for the lobby and the popular verandah overlooking an oak hammock and the 18th hole of The Founders Club’s Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed championship golf course.
“We’re getting a lot of positive feedback from members who comment about how bright and open it feels,” said General Manager Hugh O’Donnell. “Several members said they’ve never noticed the dark wood before. It really shows up against the lighter walls.”
The dark wood, an homage to the club’s Scottish traditions, appears throughout the building, in lobby columns, crown molding, ceiling details and chair railing. Painting, papering and other updates have been completed. The new furniture is arriving in several shipments and is expected to be in place by the end of October, O’Donnell said.
The bar and grille maintains its casual ambience with distressed wood wall with ivory acoustic panels above. The venue also will have new chairs and stools in addition to the tables. Ivory and gray striped wallpaper accents walls in hallways and in the main dining room, where mirrors and white molding mimic surrounding windows.
“It’s such an incredible new look,” said O’Donnell. “We’re excited for our seasonal members to see it.”
The private golf and social club community features 100 protected live oaks and a natural habitat within its 700 acres. Offering the area’s only traditional caddie program, The Founders Club allows golfers to walk the course. Training facilities include two putting greens, a recently enlarged driving range and remodeled short game area featuring Titleist Pro V-1 balls, and state-of-the-art FlightScope technology. The Golf Hall also offers a fully stocked golf pro shop, fitness center, and men’s and women’s locker rooms and lounges.
The Founders Club features miles of boardwalks and paved walkways, Har-Tru tennis courts, basketball and sand volleyball courts, and a picnic pavilion. Fitness and wellness classes, educational and instructional programs, and social gatherings are coordinated by a professional staff.
