The Fort Myers, Fla. club will introduce a new resort-style pool and outdoor bar as part of the project. An enhanced fitness center, indoor and outdoor dining, 1,600-bottle wine cellar and exhibition kitchen with a pizza oven are also included.
The Club at Gateway in Fort Myers, Fla. is nearing the completion of its renovation project, which C+RB first reported on in August 2019. The new resort-style pool is progressing—equipment has been installed and crews are putting the finishing touches on the detail items, including the tile, colored bubblers, fountains, coping and the pebbletech finish coat.
The area is being graded and crews will begin installing some of the landscaping, irrigation, lighting and sound components, and then the pavers. Once complete, members will enjoy beach entry, water features, dedicated lap lanes and a 16-seat outdoor bar with TVs, offering specialty beverages and poolside entertainment for members.
The fitness center drywall has been completed, the flooring is scheduled to be installed and all of the new aerobics, weight and TRX strength training equipment will be delivered by the end of March. A large array of fitness and water aerobics classes will also be provided for members, as part of the club’s new fitness program. The Fitness Center will be built complete with a separate spinning and aerobics room.
The drywall in the main dining room, outdoor dining and outdoor bar areas has been completed. All bar and service equipment is being installed along with all of the lighting and audio-visual components. The outdoor bar will be tiled.
The new exhibition kitchen with a pizza oven is just about completed, with the flooring and the viewing-bar elements being finished up. Chef Dan Lavallee and his team have incorporated many new recipes, including the freshest ingredients from Italy and pizza toppings for every palette.
Another first-class feature will be a 1,600-bottle wine cellar in the lobby area and a private wine room for dining and entertaining.
New fresh paint and roof tile stain on all the buildings has been completed, giving the club a more contemporary look.
Club amenities—tennis, pickleball, bocce, fitness center and pool including dining in the Grille Room—remained open during the renovations.
