The 20,000-sq. ft. facility caps $8 million in recent improvements at the Boca Raton, Fla. property.
The Club at Boca Pointe has opened its new 20,000-sq. ft. Sports and Fitness Complex, to highlight nearly $8 million in overall upgrades that have been made recently at the Boca Raton, Fla. property.
“[Opening] the doors to our new facility highlights the successful completion of a major portion of our ongoing program to keep our club current,” said Helen Karpel, Boca Pointe’s General Manager. “The new Sports and Fitness Complex will enable us to better manage our facilities with cost-saving efficiencies across the board, while providing club members with a state-of-the-art facility.
“The Boca Pointe residential community is split into four sections divided by two busy intersections,” Karpel explained. “Our existing Athletics Center was located in one of the sections detached from the main campus. The new Sports and Fitness complex is conveniently located near the main clubhouse next to our 16 Har-Tru tennis courts, 18-hole championship golf course, a large enhanced, resort-like pool area, casual and elegant dining restaurants, two lively lounges, active card rooms, and fun social programs.”
In addition to the new Sports and Fitness Complex, The Club at Boca Pointe has installed a new irrigation system throughout its golf course, replanted the fairways and tee boxes with Celebration bermudagrass, improved the collars around the greens, and repaved the cart paths. The club completed work on the front nine in 2014 and will finish the remaining work on the back nine in 2015, through an implementation strategy that has enabled members to have a full course for play in season.
Building the new Sports and Fitness Complex was facilitated by the sale of the property on which the club’s original Athletics Center complex was located. One hundred townhomes will now be built on that property, with each unit including a one-year social membership to The Club at Boca Pointe.
The outside of the new Sports and Fitness Complex incorporates an exciting new look to the swimming pool area, as well as a new kiddie splash deck and an overall resort-like feel designed to encourage extended stays around the deck. The club’s tennis players will also enjoy a new tennis center next to the 16 existing Har-Tru courts.
State-of-the-art fitness equipment has been purchased, with many pieces outfitted with TV screens. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the facility. One large room is dedicated to weight training, cardio exercises, and circuit workouts. There are also rooms dedicated to spinning and aerobics, an enlarged physical-therapy section, and a new Freshe Pointe Café restaurant, to highlight the new destination at The Club at Boca Pointe.
Other recent upgrades for The Club at Boca Pointe include a new look for the main lobby, dining room, bar and lounge, card rooms, banquet rooms and ladies’ golf locker room.
“Upgrading areas of the club is an ongoing process that we strive to achieve for our members’ benefit,” Karpel said. “We will start to plan the other areas of the club that will be upgraded, as part of the ‘dawning of a new era’ to ensure a great future for The Club at Boca Pointe.”
