The Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. club added a state-of-the-art facility consisting of two hitting bays for instruction and club fittings. The Performance Centre will also be available for members to host parties and other entertainment options.
The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe (Calif.) recently unveiled the Richard C. Helmstetter Performance Centre—a state-of-the-art facility consisting of two hitting bays for instruction and club fittings. The Centre will allow members to receive world-class instruction with cutting edge technology.
The Performance Centre and its team of professionals have partnered with the best golf companies in the business, allowing members access to the latest and greatest technologies in golf today. In partnering with the Sports Centre’s elite team, The Bridges staff will take a holistic approach to a golfer’s game. This will ensure faster results with pain free movement in all aspects of the game.
Named after Richard Helmstetter, the man most-widely recognized as the creator of Callaway Golf Company’s Big Bertha Driver and Fairway Woods, the Performance Centre is headed by Matt Kilgariff, Director of Player Development, Steve Wilson, Director of Golf, and Todd Gill, Physical Therapist/TPI Specialist.
Kilgariff spoke about the specific technology.
“Our goal is to create a world class experience for members and guests at our new state-of-the-art facility,” he said. “The RCH has partnered with elite golf club companies and the leaders in golf technology. Our Centre will be equipped with a Full Swing Golf Simulator, Swing Catalyst and PuttView, which will allow us to provide our members with a learning experience of a lifetime. I truly look forward to hosting and helping golfers of all abilities and skill levels improve their game.”
In conjunction with PuttView, The Bridges installed a Virtual Green by Full Swing. Manufactured to run at the same speed as the course keeps its greens, the system can go from flat, to breaking left, breaking right, uphill and/or downhill at the touch of a button.
The Performance Centre is more than just golf, Kilgariff added.
“Members may host parties, celebrations, holiday events, corporate outings, fundraisers, team-building events or any other social function you can dream up,” he said. “Our staff is here to assist you with planning details to ensure you and your guests enjoy your time by providing you with a customized experience like no other.”
During the hours of operations (Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and Monday / Holidays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.), the Performance Centre is open for lessons and club fittings only. Outside of business hours, the programs such as wine tastings, brewery nights, Oscars / Super Bowl / Final Four parties, weekly leagues, and daily contests are examples of potential member-enhancement programming within the RCH throughout the season.
In addition to instruction and entertainment, The Bridges will also offer club fittings in the RCH Performance Centre. It is important that the equipment in a golfer’s bag is constructed to fit that individuals swing. Without a proper fit, it is possible that ball flight will be affected negatively, and golfers may make adjustments in their set-up or swing which will lead to swing faults that could have been avoided.
Through custom fitting at The Bridges, the staff can determine the following: Proper shaft length to maximize distance without compromising control; Proper club head for shot forgiveness and accuracy; Proper lie angle for better interaction through the turf; Proper shaft flex for maximizing club head speed, shot trajectory and feel; and Proper grip size and material for better feel and control over the clubface.
“Our vision was to build a facility that would set us apart from other clubs by taking our member experience to another level in golf instruction, swing analysis, club fitting and physical performance, while also creating a new and exciting entertainment venue for our members,” said Gerry Douglas, Club President.
The Bridges partners with TaylorMade, Callaway, Titleist, and Scotty Cameron and will host demo days with other brands throughout the year.
