Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort Under New Ownership

By C&RB Staff | June 30, 2022

Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort is in Boerne, Texas.

The new ownership took the reins on June 2 at the facility in Boerne, Texas, which is about 20 minutes from San Antonio. It’s not immediately clear who the new resort owner is. “Ownership wishes to remain private,” says Caleb Dubose, Managing Director for Crescent Hotels & Resorts, which is managing the resort. The 111-room property has a golf course and fine dining, as well as indoor and outdoor event venues. More recent renovations included the addition of a 35,000-sq.-ft. clubhouse.

Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort in Boerne, Texas, has new ownership, The San Antonio Business Journal reported.

The sale went down less than three weeks before the property sustained its latest fire, one that destroyed an on-site spa and fitness center. It’s not immediately clear who the new resort owner is, The San Antonio Business Journal reported.

“Ownership wishes to remain private,” said Caleb Dubose, managing director for Crescent Hotels & Resorts, which took over management of Tapatio Springs earlier this month.

According to Dubose, new ownership took over June 2. The 111-room property, roughly 20 minutes from San Antonio, has a golf course and fine dining, as well as indoor and outdoor event venues. More recent renovations included the addition of a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse.

The Hill Country resort has endured a series of challenges in recent years, The San Antonio Business Journal reported. In 2017, the 220-acre development sustained significant damage from a fire that swept through part of the property. The resort reopened in late 2019 with several changes, including a redesign of its signature restaurant, La Cascada Table & Bar, and updated guest rooms.

Since spring 2020, like others in the hospitality industry, Tapatio Springs has had to endure the challenges tied to a pandemic that has especially impacted group and convention travel, The San Antonio Business Journal reported. The resort’s previous ownership included George Strait. In 2011, the country music icon and partner Tom Cusick acquired Tapatio Springs from Textron Financial Corp., which had owned the property as a result of a foreclosure. In 2015, the resort’s golf course underwent a multimillion-dollar makeover.

“Tom and I watched what was happening at Tapatio Springs and we always believed it could be a real jewel,” said Strait at the time.

Dubose suggests the new resort management will work to craft a master plan for the property. Crescent President and CEO Michael George said the management company, which has more than 100 hotels in its portfolio, was prepared to “take this strong resort concept to the next level.”
