The Greenwich, Conn. club does not have an efficient way to provide beverages to golfers, nor does it have a formal bar area by the pool, says attorney Bruce Cohen, who filed plans with the Planning and Zoning Commission. Some minor alterations to the patio area and landscaping are proposed, but there will not be a loss of green space.
Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, Conn. went through a major renovation in 2004, building a “Day Room” for young people and recreational activities, The Darien Times reported. The club is now seeking to add a permanent bar area, off the north end of the Day Room, and to make other modifications there.
The goal is to provide better service to members and visitors, according to the application filed with Greenwich’s Planning and Zoning Commission by attorney Bruce Cohen, The Times reported.
“Currently the club does not have an efficient way to provide beverages to golfers, [nor] does it have a formal bar area by the pool,” according to Cohen. “Presently, a portable bar is used at the pool to provide drink service during the summer months. As an improved member amenity, the club is proposing to construct a formal/permanent bar off the Day Room to better serve its members at both the pool complex and off the golf course.”
Some minor alterations to the patio area and landscaping are proposed, The Times reported. There will not be a loss of green space, according to the attorney.
The Tamarack Country Club was founded in 1929, The Times reported. It hosts a number of special events and benefits, aside from the recreational facilities.
A Yale University graduate, Charles Henry Banks, designed the golf course in 1929, The Timesreported. The club lies on 170 acres in the northwest corner of town.
The proposal has not yet been scheduled for review by the Planning & Zoning Commission, The Times reported.
