The Southern Pines, N.C. facility features 10 hitting bays, all with high-speed cameras, TV monitors, technology and games. In addition, the entire Talamore practice range has been upgraded and a new, 15,000-sq.-ft. putting course is being installed between the driving range and the 10th tee boxes that also opens this fall.
Talamore Golf Resort in Southern Pines, N.C. has installed Toptracer Range at its practice facility. Guests can experience interactive golf entertainment with the transformation of the the driving range into a facility powered by Toptracer Range technology. The technology uses high-speed cameras, coupled with sophisticated computer algorithms, to provide instantaneous ball tracking information to guests using the range.
“There are so many different things you can do with it. You can play other courses, you can play Topgolf, you can do long drives, you can do closest to the pins,” said Talamore Golf Resort General Manager Matt Hausser. “We have so much repeat business, it’s nice for them to keep coming back and finding something else here. It’s great to provide our guests more things to do, so they can enjoy their time at Talamore.”
The Talamore Toptracer Range features 10 hitting bays, all with high-speed cameras, TV monitors, technology and games. Casual seating is available.
“We have 10 bays, so 40 people can use [the Talamore Toptracer Range] at one time,” Hausser said. “It will be open till dark and the halfway house is conveniently located for food and drinks.”
In more than a quarter century since Talamore Golf Resort debuted—offering llamas as caddies as a unique walking option across its long and undulating corridors—the popular Sandhills golf getaway has remained on the cutting edge of resort innovation.
“Mid South is going to have the mobile version of Toptracer,” Hausser said. “So, they’ll be able to download the app and be able to do pretty much the same thing on their phones. It’ll track your practice. You can go out there and see your shot shape and stuff like that—just a lot of cool features. It’s basically the stuff you see when you’re watching golf on TV, where it shows the shot, shaping the ball.”
In addition, the entire Talamore practice range has been upgraded and a new, 15,000-sq.-ft. putting course is being installed between the driving range and the 10th tee boxes that also opens this fall. Guests can warm up or practice on the putting course while waiting for Toptracer, or simply settling some bets after their round.
Also new is the expanded outdoor deck at the Talamore clubhouse overlooking the 18th green.
“We’ll have some nice furniture and fire pits out there and lights and a couple of TVs and just make it a cool spot for people to hang out post round or waiting to go over to Toptracer,” Hausser said. “It’s going to be just a neat thing for people to be able to do something else while they’re on property. Plus, it’s a very cool spot to sit and watch golfers finish.”
Last but not least, the resort installed 10 new EcoBunker sod wall bunkers earlier this year. EcoBunker Advanced is the strongest and most efficient method of constructing stacked sod walls using synthetic grass tiles and they will remind golfers of the legendary courses of the British Isles.
“They’re beautiful like the bunkers you see over in the British Isles during the Open Championship,” Hausser said.
Talamore Golf Resort has long been renowned for its exceptional on-site accommodations.
“It’s customer service, customer relations—wanting our guests to come and see something new, or see something different and experience something different in town that they may not be able to see anywhere else,” Hausser said. “We enjoy having our guests come and stay and stick around and hang out, just let them have a good time.”
