A new indoor golf facility at Fox Acres Country Club in Red Feather Lakes, Colo. will give players an opportunity to work on their game year-round. The facility, which opened in the beginning of the year, features four hitting bays, an artificial-turf putting green and artificial-turf chipping circle. A practice bunker is planned as well, Fox Acres Head Professional Dan Jaramillo said in The Coloradoan.

“The idea came about from our owner, Kevin Frazier,” Jaramillo said. “Originally, he just wanted a place to hit. We built this for that.”

Because Fox Acres has a national membership base—Jaramillo said members come from California to Florida, and all points in between—the club decided to also open the facility to golfers who aren’t members of the club, to generate more business.

The facility will be open on weekdays and Saturday by appointment. The cost is $10 an hour in the first month and $15 an hour afterward; golfers also can pay monthly fees ($75 the first month, $100 thereafter) for unlimited use.

“There’s not another facility that I can think of where a golfer can just go and practice on their own,” Jaramillo said. “It’s not just involved with instruction; they can come in and hit balls, they can chip and putt. And they can do that when there’s a foot of snow on the ground.”

Also, the club is allowing high school and junior high golf team members to use the facility for free on a space-available basis.

“One of our charges, as PGA professionals, is to help grow the game,” Jaramillo said. “This is one way to do that.”
