Jim Critzer and Kenneth Bradley bought the foreclosed property at auction for just under $900,000, and are introducing new staff with plans to renovate the facilities and restore the historic venue. Plans call for a semi-private operation with paid memberships and access to the public, and the owners are also seeking a liquor license.

Randy Frankel, who is also partner/owner of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, has acquired The Plantation Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers, Fla., in partnership with MG Orender and Hampton Golf. Kenneth Bradley, the owner of a local dump truck business, bought Waynesboro (Va.) Country Club for $891,000 at a foreclosure auction, saying it is “a good possibility” that the club would stay open for golfing and other activities.

Staunton, Va., Courses Cater to Youth Golfers
Ingleside Golf Resort, The Club at Ironwood and Gypsy Hill Golf Club are offering programs to introduce kids to the game, including free golf for kids 12 and under, a summer membership for youth age 18 and under, and youth golf clinics. All of the courses are reporting higher levels of youth participation as a result of the efforts.
