Hawk’s Landing CC in Southington, Conn. sold all seats at its banquet hall for its $150/person bash, and also at its Club 19 restaurant for two New Year’s Eve seatings as well as the previous night. Hunter Golf Club, The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford and Southington CC all also reported strong demand for their holiday celebrations.
Herb Kohler to Receive 2016 Old Tom Morris Award
The former CEO of Kohler Co. took the home-products and design company into the golf business during his 43 years with the company, building four courses at Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits and buying resort hotel properties in St Andrews, Scotland. He will receive the award named after St Andrews’ long-time superintendent at the Golf Industry Show in San Diego next February.
The Farms CC Buys Its Golf Course
The Wallingford, Conn., club now owns the 175 acres its 18-hole golf course sits on after buying it from Gaylord Hospital for more than $2 million. Since 1960, the land has been owned by the hospital and the club had a 99-year lease. Despite now owning the land, the club has no plans to add modifications or expand.
