The transformation of the former Shallow Creek GC—an Arnold Palmer-designed course on 12 acres donated to the town in 2007—is scheduled to be finished by summer 2019. Past development plans have included a strip mall, a sports dome, and a family-fun center featuring a driving range, laser tag and a mini-golf course.
Efforts Continue to Fulfill Head Golf Pro’s Dream for New Yorktown, N.Y. Course
Rocco Cambareri, who died last year after a career as a head pro at courses in Westchester County, N.Y., had created a development company to create a new 9-hole, par-3 course on the site of the former Shallow Creek Golf Course, which closed in 2007. Yorktown officials are now working with a partner of Cambareri’s to extend the time for development, and efforts continue to obtain grants and raise funds, in addition to $250,000 secured from a Foundation three years ago.
Foundation Contributes $250,000 to Missouri Junior Golf Course
The Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation announced that it is becoming a partner in the Tom Watson Junior Golf Course at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park in Maryville, Mo. The donation is part of the foundation’s Links Across America initiative, established to create feeder short courses for young people, families, beginners and people with disabilities.
