The Resort at La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio has closed for extensive renovations that are expected to be complete by late October, with a reopening scheduled for November 1. Earthwork and shaping is underway at the new South Course at Arcadia (Mich.) Bluffs, and the course is expected to open in 2019.
The management company will guide the club through the process of developing and executing its new long-term strategic plan that will focus on membership growth and engagement initiatives. The property offers 36 holes of golf, multiple dining options, a Jr. Olympic-sized swimming pool with poolside dining, and four outdoor tennis courts.
Redesigned by Tom Weiskopf, the project at the La Jolla, Calif., property included several infrastructure elements, including new irrigation and pumping systems; replacement of all tee boxes; greens were enlarged by 20-30%; bunkers were reduced from 60 to 42, with many relocated or reconfigured; cart paths were replaced; and the nines have been flipped.
