After strong storms blew through the Deerwood, Minn., property on June 19, crews that included some volunteers from the community cleaned up an estimated 200 trees. The resort itself was undamaged and the front nine was opened the following day.

Last year, the Brainerd, Minn., resort saw damage to 20 buildings and more than 200 trees were downed following a destructive storm. After undergoing $13 million in renovations, the property will reopen this spring, with 85 new guest rooms and updated amenities.
Storm Knocks Over Trees at Torrey Pines GC
The La Jolla, Calif., property hosted the Farmers Insurance Open over the weekend, and had to suspend the final round of play on Sunday, and keep spectators off the golf course due to conditions. Overnight, 60 mph winds knocked over as many as 20 trees, including two Torrey pines and a 75-foot eucalyptus.
Community Rallies for Fuel Clean-up at Meadowbrook Golf & Event Center
A squall that passed through Kilgore, Texas in just a few minutes on Monday caused hours of clean-up on the property. A toppling tree crushed a shed and struck a powerline as 770 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel spilled out of two ruptured tanks. Fortunately, no sparks ignited the fuel.
