Pennsylvania, S.D. Golf Properties Add Hotels
The Lenape Heights Golf Resort in Ford City, Pa., will celebrate the opening of its 20-room, European boutique-style hotel, which will ultimately be open to the public, on March 29 at its Winemakers’ Dinner. In Sioux Falls, S.D., Elmwood Golf Course is in the early stages of developing a hotel on its property after forming a partnership with Fairway Suites.
GreatLife Plans Sioux Falls, S.D., Project
Local franchise owner Tom Walsh Sr. bought Willow Run Golf Course in 2012 and is forming a partnership with GreatLife Golf & Fitness. Though details of the deal have not yet been revealed, the plan will likely involve Bakker Crossing, Willow Run, and Central Valley golf courses, as well as the former YWCA and Sioux Empire Fitness.
City to Build Hotel Near Elmwood GC
Sioux Falls, S.D., leaders are hoping a new hotel and restaurant will turn the city-owned golf course into a travel destination, and will put out a request for proposals on November 22. The city would retain ownership of the 2.5 acres and work out a lease with the hotel owner, which could involve revenue sharing.
“Burger King” Wants to Lease South Dakota Course
Tom Walsh, who owns the hamburger chain’s restaurants in Sioux Falls, S.D., as well as other golf courses, has proposed that he lease the city-owned course in Brandon, S.D., with an option to buy.
