ClubCorp Announces Continued Growth, Oakhurst G&CC Acquisition, and Eric Affeldt’s Pending Retirement

The management firm reported its twelth consecutive quarter of growth while saying it would not pursue being acquired for the time being, noting that it had not received a purchase proposal for the entire company. The acquisition of Oakhurst G&CC in Clarkston, Mich., is ClubCorp’s fourth this year. Eric Affeldt will retire as Chief Executive Officer upon appointment of a successor.

Court Classifies Santa Rosa (Calif.) G&CC as “Commercial Establishment”

A state appeals court concluded that a private golf club is still considered a commercial establishment, meaning that a theft at the club would be reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor under California’s Proposition 47. Jon Holm, who pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary in 2013 for stealing a TV set and three boxes of golf balls from the club, can now remove the felony from his record.

ClubCorp Acquires Santa Rosa (Calif.) G&CC

The previously member-owned private club will undergo a multimillion-dollar capital project to bring improvements to the clubhouse, golf course, practice facilities, and pool. The club features an 18-hole parkland golf course, Mediterranean-style clubhouse, and tennis, swimming, and fitness facilities.
