Cardinal Club, Capital City Club Consolidate
The Downtown Clubs of Raleigh (N.C.) plans to invest $2 million to expand and renovate the current Cardinal Club and close the Capital City Club. In 2009, the ClubCorp-owned clubs pooled their memberships and began operating as a single club in two locations. The renovation is expected to be complete next June and a name for the refurbished club has not yet been chosen.
Superintendent Establishes “Adventurers for Special Needs”
Brian Peters, GCSAA Class A regional superintendent for Traditional Golf Properties, started the non-profit charity to help fund schools for special needs children. The charity’s first adventure will be a climb of Mt. Rainier in Washington, with a donation goal of $20,000 in which all proceeds go directly to the cause.
First African-American Members Reported at Carolina CC
Following up on an announcement that appeared in the club newsletter, The News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C., confirmed with Hilda Pinnix-Ragland, an executive with Duke Energy, that she and her husband had become members of the 103-year-old, invitation-only club.
