McConnell Golf Considers Acquiring Providence CC
The Raleigh, N.C.-based owner/operator of private golf clubs in the Carolinas is “still evaluating the club at this point.” The Charlotte, N.C., club’s golf course was redesigned in 2006 and the remainder of its facilities were renovated in 2014.
Town of Cary, N.C. Relaxes Noise Rules for Golf Courses
Mowers and other lawn maintenance equipment will now be able to start at 7 a.m. on weekends during the fall and winter, two hours earlier than a previous ordinance, and at 6 a.m. in the spring and summer. The issue became controversial after a resident claimed he was harassed for speaking out against the change, a charge that Prestonwood CC denied.

The 90-year-old Brook Valley property in Greenville, N.C. will become the ninth Carolina property in Raleigh-based McConnell’s portfolio, and the new owner has pledged to make $2 million in improvements in the next two years. Hoakalei CC, in West Oahu, Hawaii, has an Ernie Els-designed golf course; it is being sold to the Hirakawa Shoji Group, which plans to start building a new permanent clubhouse within two years.

ClubSoft Makes 2014 Best Employers in North Carolina List
The Raleigh, N.C.-based software company was named as one of 30 companies on the list, which is compiled by Business North Carolina, the Society for Human Resource Management, and Best Companies Group. Seventy-five percent of the list’s evaluation is determined by employee surveys, while 25 percent considers the company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics.

NC State Opens $6M Golf Course Clubhouse
The Carol Johnson Poole Clubhouse at the Raleigh, N.C., university opened earlier this month after a year of construction. Before the clubhouse was built, the golf programs were housed in a series of trailers and had indoor hitting rooms in a structure that was originally designed to hold machinery, but now the clubhouse includes a golf pro shop and a restaurant.
