Upgrades of the Bonita Springs, Fla. property’s North and South courses are planned for the summer months of 2017 and 2018. Jones was selected for the projects based largely on a recommendation from the courses’ original designer, Bob Cupp, before Cupp died last year.
Portland (Ore.) Plans Vote to Ban Smoking On Golf Courses in City Parks
Other cities in Oregon have exempted golfers from similar laws, but the ban in the state’s largest city would apply to all four of its municipal courses. Tobacco products would also be banned from being sold at the facilities, but groups renting courses for tournaments could apply for smoking permits. Portland would join a growing group of cities, including New York, San Francisco, Houston and New Orleans, that now also include golf in their smoking bans.

Muirfield Village GC To Install Cross Bars on Iron Fence
A week after two deer had to be shot when they were found impaled on the temporary fence, the Dublin, Ohio club released a flyer revealing plans to install cross bars over the finials. The final portions of the fence are being installed this week and crews plan to install the cross bars the week of September 9.
Deer Impale Themselves on Muirfield Village GC Fence
Police were forced to shoot two deer that were found hanging from the controversial wrought iron fence being installed around the Dublin, Ohio club. The club said it is working with city officials “to understand ways to mitigate what sadly is not an isolated situation within the Dublin area where there is a dense population of deer.”
